Kira Alexis Tucker is a poet and visual artist from Memphis, Tennessee. Her debut collection of poetry won the 2025 National Poetry Series; Wildest will publish with Akashic Books in Fall 2026.
A lifelong love of literature and language fuels Kira’s work as an Associate Agent at The Shipman Agency and a Grants Administrator at the Barbara Deming Memorial Fund.
Kira recently joined the English faculty of Beacon Academy, where she teaches Environmental Literature. From 2024-2025, Kira served as the Artist in Residence in the Northwestern University Department of English, where she earned an MFA in Creative Writing and an MA in English with a focus on environmental literature. She was also a recent finalist for a Ruth Lilly and Dorothy Sargent Rosenberg Fellowship.
Kira’s latest work is all about dreaming—a poetic investigation spanning the mythos of the American Dream and the landscapes of our collective unconscious.
